Orthopaedics

Orthopaedics and traumatology is one of the fastest growing medical specialties in Turkey in terms of technology and scientific advances.

Arthroscopic and robotic surgery are widely used in the diagnosis and treatment of joint diseases and injuries. Arthroscopy is performed with a few small incisions in the skin and causes very little scarring and pain. Compared to open surgery, there is a rapid recovery. The operation takes about 1 hour and the patient is discharged a few hours after the operation. No stitches need to be removed as dissolvable stitches are used.

Turkish orthopaedic surgeons perform a wide variety of operations on patients ranging from professional athletes to housewives. These include:

  • arthroscopy of the knee, shoulder, hand and ankle;
  • ligament, cartilage, meniscus and tendon surgery;
  • cartilage transplants.

The most common orthopaedic procedures:

  • joint replacement;
  • disc herniation treatment;
  • removal of bone tumours;
  • microsurgery;
  • rehabilitation.
