Oncology

Although cancer diagnoses are becoming more frequent worldwide, a cancer diagnosis is no longer a death sentence. Thanks to the rapid introduction of more effective diagnostic and treatment methods, cancer patients have a much better prognosis and a better chance of a full recovery.

Turkey is one of the countries that can boast of the latest technologies and methods for cancer treatment.

Turkish oncologists have successfully treated a variety of malignancies, including brain, pancreatic, prostate and ovarian cancers. Turkish surgeons have successfully operated on tumours that have been diagnosed as inoperable in other countries. This is partly due to state-of-the-art equipment and internationally and locally patented treatment expertise. For example, robotic perineal radical prostatectomy using the Da Vinci Xi HD surgical system, introduced by a Turkish urology professor, allows prostate tumours to be removed without opening the abdominal cavity. This is made possible by special robotic equipment that can reach the prostate through an opening made in the crotch.

In an era when non-surgical treatment of cancer patients has become a reality, treatment with cyberknife/gamma knife, as well as chemotherapy, biotherapy and immunotherapy, is being used. In cases where radiation oncology is essential, our oncologists have approved and use three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy, intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), brachytherapy, ultrasound-guided transperineal prostate implantation.

In Turkey you will find a full range of professional oncologists, one in three of whom has studied in Europe or the USA. The education and quality of Turkish oncologists is comparable to that of top-class oncologists in Western countries or Israel, and is more affordable.
